SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa, listed as a suspect in the matter and currently released on bail, appeared in court as the trial resumed.

Investigating officers revealed that the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has opened an independent inquiry into Rajapaksa over the same incident.
