The Swiss government has pledged its support to assist Sri Lanka in recovering assets that have been moved out of the country. This assurance was given by the Swiss Ambassador to Sri Lanka and designated Ambassador to the Maldives, Siri Walt, during a meeting with Secretary to the President, Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, held at the Presidential Secretariat today (24 January).

Ambassador Walt highlighted Switzerland’s readiness to provide the necessary resources and guidance on international measures required for reclaiming such assets. Discussions also covered Switzerland’s technical expertise and its potential contribution to Sri Lanka’s ongoing anti-corruption initiatives.

The Swiss government reiterated its commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s “Clean Sri Lanka” program by offering technical and financial assistance. Ambassador Walt also emphasized Switzerland’s dedication to addressing social challenges, promoting national reconciliation, and aiding the development of the Northern region through necessary support and resources.

The meeting was attended by Senior Additional Secretary to the President, Roshan Gamage.
