The Supreme Court has indefinitely postponed the bail application of Immigration and Emigration Controller General Harsha Illukpitiya, who remains in remand custody for contempt of court.
The case stems from Illukpitiya’s alleged failure to comply with a Supreme Court interim injunction related to Fundamental Rights petitions challenging the introduction of an electronic visa issuance system under the previous administration.
Initially set for Monday (27 January) and rescheduled for today (29 January), the bail hearing will now take place before a bench led by Justice Preethi Padman Surasena at an unspecified date.
