The Attorney General today (7 February) issued a statement explaining the reasons behind his instructions to release three suspects linked to the murder of journalist Lasantha Wickrematunge.

The Attorney General’s Department clarified that the names of the suspects mentioned in the letter sent by the AG to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on 27 January do not belong to those arrested for Wickrematunge’s murder but are related to a separate incident.
