The Election Commission has announced that all candidates from the 2024 General Election, along with party secretaries and leaders of independent groups, must submit their expense reports by 6 December 2024.

In a statement, the commission outlined that reports should be separately prepared and submitted to the respective District Returning Officer in the districts where candidates contested. National List candidates are required to submit their income and expenditure reports directly to the commission.

Special units have been established in all districts to accept the reports. These units will operate until 6.00 p.m. on regular working days and remain open until midnight on the final day, 6 December.

The commission has warned that failure to meet the deadline will be considered a breach of the Regulation of Election Expenditure Act, and legal action will be pursued against violators.
