Lohan Ratwatte, arrested for causing a road accident while driving under the influence of alcohol, was remanded until 9 December after being presented before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today, 7 December.

Ratwatte, who had been released on bail on 5 December in an unrelated case, was returning from a relative’s house yesterday when his Defender collided with another vehicle near the Kollupitiya Junction.

Following a complaint lodged with the Kollupitiya Police, investigations revealed he was intoxicated at the time, leading to his arrest on charges of causing an accident while under the influence.

On 5 December, Ratwatte and his wife, Shashi Prabha Ratwatte, were granted bail by the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court over allegations of using a luxury car that had been illegally imported and assembled in Sri Lanka.
