Amazon MGM Studios said that Amy Pascal and David Heyman will produce the next James Bond film — the first time the company has produced since taking creative control of the famous spy franchise.
Pascal is best known for the three most recent Spider-Man titles starring Tom Holland, while Heyman was behind all eight Harry Potter films.
In a statement Tuesday, Courtenay Valenti, head of film at Amazon MGM Studios, described them as “two of the most talented, experienced and respected filmmakers in our industry.”
In a joint statement, Pascal and Heyman called 007 “one of the most iconic characters in cinematic history.”
Longtime masterminds Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson announced their departure from the franchise in February, handing creative control to Amazon MGM Studios, which was formed when Amazon bought Bond’s parent studio in 2022.
The Bond films were launched in 1962 by Albert “Kabbie” Broccoli, before his daughter and stepson took over.
“We are humbled to follow in the footsteps of Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, who have created so many Bond films, and we are honored and excited to keep the spirit of Bond alive as he embarks on his next adventure,” Pascal and Heyman said.
Amazon’s Valenti added: “We are honored to work with them on the next chapter of James Bond and are excited to deliver to a global audience a storytelling experience that upholds the impeccable legacy of this beloved character.”
The new deal comes four years after Daniel Craig’s final outing in No Time to Die, which was also his fifth and final appearance in the role, following mounting speculation about the British spy’s fate.
Following last month’s announcement, Amazon boss Jeff Bezos asked his 6.8 million followers on X: “Who would you choose to be the next Bond?”
Amazon and its chosen producers will now decide which actor will take on the iconic role, but there is no timeline yet for when that will happen or when the next film will be released.
James Norton, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Theo James are among the bookies’ favorites to fill Craig’s shoes.
Pascal most recently produced Challengers, starring Zendaya, and was also behind the Spider-Verse film series.
Heyman is currently in pre-production on the Harry Potter television series and in post-production on Taika Waititi’s adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguru’s Clara and the Sun, starring Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams.
The Hollywood power couple is also working together on Noah Baumbach’s J. Kelly, starring George Clooney and Adam Sandler.
