President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his Sinhala and Tamil New Year message, has called upon all Sri Lankans to unite with renewed strength and goodwill to support the government’s efforts in building a more prosperous and compassionate nation.

Reflecting on the symbolic importance of the New Year as a time for both physical and spiritual renewal, the President described this moment as a defining one for the country. He expressed joy and gratitude for the collective efforts of the National People’s Power (NPP) government over the past months in steering the nation away from adversity and towards economic, social, and political advancement.

“The successes we have thus far achieved rightfully belong to the people of this country, whose steadfast trust, as expressed in the most recent Presidential and General Elections, has been the driving force behind this transformative journey,” the President stated.

Acknowledging the challenges that remain, he affirmed the government’s resolve to implement well-considered plans to address the complex issues facing the country, both domestically and in the broader geopolitical landscape.

President Dissanayake also highlighted the New Year traditions as a testament to the historical harmony between Sinhala and Tamil communities, and a reminder of the enduring values of unity, compassion, and peaceful coexistence.

“It is our solemn responsibility, particularly at this time of renewal, to nurture those values within ourselves and to foster a more compassionate and ethical society,” he said.

He encouraged citizens to embrace personal renewal and shed outdated attitudes, aligning with the spiritual essence of the New Year rituals.

Concluding his message, the President extended warm wishes to all Sri Lankans, expressing hope that the year ahead would bring peace, happiness, and prosperity as the nation works collectively toward the vision of “A Thriving Nation – A Beautiful Life.”
