Speaker Asoka Ranwala is expected to clarify the controversy surrounding his academic qualifications in the coming days, Cabinet Spokesperson Nalinda Jayatissa said.

Speaking at the weekly Cabinet media briefing today (10 December), Jayatissa stated that the government would decide on appropriate action following the Speaker’s statement.

Responding to a journalist’s query about the controversy, Jayatissa acknowledged the issue, saying, “I am aware of the current controversy. Some individuals have even questioned my educational qualifications. The Speaker will issue an official statement regarding the matter soon. If there are fabricated qualifications, I admit that it is a serious issue. The government will take appropriate action after the statement is made.”
