The police have launched sudden inspections of SLTB and private buses deployed for long-distance services, focusing on passenger safety and vehicle standards.

As part of this operation, buses operating from Hatton were inspected by the Ginigathhena Police. During the inspections, five SLTB buses and six private buses were found to be operating with defects that posed risks to passengers.

Legal action has been initiated before the Hatton Magistrate’s Court against the 11 drivers of these buses. In addition, several other bus drivers were instructed to rectify the identified faults immediately.
