The case relating to the alleged abuse of a schoolgirl who died by suicide in Kotahena was taken up today (19 May) before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.

During proceedings, the court directed the police to submit a detailed progress report on the investigation involving the suspect—a teacher accused of being connected to the incident.

Colombo Additional Magistrate Pasan Amarasinghe issued the order after considering the submissions made in court. The police were instructed to present the report on 23 June.

The case stems from a tragic incident in which a schoolgirl reportedly took her own life after allegedly being subjected to sexual abuse by a teacher in her school.
