Attorney Udul Prearatne, who represents underworld figure Nadun Chinthaka alias Harak Kata, has raised serious concerns over his client’s safety, claiming that his life is in danger.

According to Prearatne, Nadun Chinthaka has been admitted to the Emergency Treatment Unit of the Colombo National Hospital after contracting a fever and is currently being treated in Ward 37.

The attorney further alleged that there have been previous attempts to end Harak Kata’s life while he was in custody. “I have informed the Human Rights Commission and the Inspector General of Police that while he was held at the Tangalle Prison under the custody of the Terrorism Investigation Division, conditions were deliberately created to harm him. His prison cell surroundings allowed for mosquito breeding, and he was provided with spoiled food—part of what appears to be a calculated plan to assassinate him,” Prearatne claimed.

He also expressed concern over the current situation at the hospital, stating that despite his client’s critical condition, the police and hospital authorities are not allowing anyone to visit him or obtain information about his health status.

“These restrictions raise further alarm,” said Prearatne.
