In a remarkable act of dedication and bravery, a SLTB bus driver suffered a heart attack while at the wheel but still managed to safely bring the vehicle to a halt, saving the lives of 62 passengers on board.

The incident occurred during a journey from Trincomalee to Jaffna. Despite experiencing a sudden and severe heart attack while seated at the driver’s seat, the heroic driver made a conscious effort to stop the bus carefully, ensuring the safety of all passengers.

Moments later, he collapsed unconscious in his seat.

Passengers immediately came to his aid and rushed him to the Chavakachcheri Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.

It is reported that the driver, even as early symptoms of the heart attack began to surface, prioritised the safety of his passengers. Both the grateful passengers and senior officials at the Jaffna CTB depot have expressed deep respect and admiration for his selfless act, hailing him as a true hero.
