Apsari Sinhghabahu Tillakaratne, a former flight attendant with Air Lanka—now known as SriLankan Airlines—is facing potential legal trouble after appearing in an online interview wearing a saree that resembled the official uniform of the airline.

The saree in question is part of the iconic uniform once worn by Air Lanka cabin crew members, and according to airline policy, former employees are required to return all uniforms and gear upon resignation or retirement. A senior official from SriLankan Airlines told the Daily Mirror that Apsari’s decision to wear the uniform, despite no longer being employed by the airline, is being viewed as a serious violation.

“Uniforms are considered company property, and there are strict protocols regarding their use. Once someone leaves the airline, they are obligated to return everything,” the official said. The official added that SriLankan Airlines is currently seeking legal advice on the possibility of initiating action against Apsari for what they described as an “illegal act.”
