Timekeeper Arrested for Rs 200 Bribe from Private Bus

A Time Keeper of the Western Province Road Passenger Transport Authority in Borella has been arrested by officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

The arrest was made over allegations that the clerk demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 200 per trip to sign the running chart of a private bus, arrange a schedule, and grant all allocated trips.

The complaint was lodged by a bus conductor from Heiyantuduwa, and the arrest took place at the Kaduwela bus stand.

The suspect is due to be produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
