Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is currently in remand custody, will be transferred to the National Hospital in Colombo on medical advice, prison officials confirmed.
Wickremesinghe was earlier admitted to the Prison Hospital after being diagnosed with high blood pressure and elevated blood sugar levels. Prison Media Spokesperson and Commissioner Jagath Weerasinghe stated that his request to receive meals from home due to health reasons had already been granted.
The decision to move the former President from the Prison Hospital to the National Hospital was taken following further medical recommendations.
