The most luxurious ship, M.V. AIDA Cruises’ AIDAstella made her maiden call at Colombo Port on 11 December 2024 with 2,139 passengers and 640 crew.

Commemorating the ship’s maiden call at Colombo Port, an exchange of plaques was held between the ship’s master, Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) and local representatives, Aitken Spence Shipping Ltd.

Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) Chairman Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe (retired) who spoke on the occasion said that Colombo Port was honored by the arrival of AIDAstella at Colombo Port.

AIDA Cruises is a German cruise line that offers cruise vacations around Europe, the Caribbean and Asia. AIDAstella is 253 meters long and 38 meters wide and has 1097 staterooms that can accommodate 2,700 passengers.

AIDAstella arrived in Port Elizabeth, Durban from South Africa and started her voyage to Mauritius, Seychelles, Oman, United Arab Emirates and Maldives en route to Sri Lanka. After that, the ship will sail to Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia and several other ports in the Far East.

The Italian-flagged vessel is named Colombo from Male, Maldives, and her next port of call is Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Aitken Spence Shipping Ltd will continue to provide comprehensive and collaborative services to cruise operators that will boost tourism in the country.
