The Cabinet has approved a proposal to appoint officers and staff to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) on a temporary basis.

The proposal was presented to the Cabinet by the President.

Under the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023, the Bribery Commission has been granted enhanced independence, with specific provisions for appointing its own dedicated staff.

However, until the Commission’s permanent staff is officially appointed, temporary appointments will be made to ensure the efficient continuation of its operations.

Accordingly, as per Sections 26(4), 26(5), 26(6), 26(8), and 26(9) of the Anti-Corruption Act, approval has been granted to recruit qualified officers on a temporary basis from the public service, police service, audit service, provincial public service, and state institutions.
