The Parliamentary Committee on Standing Orders has approved an amendment enabling the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to refer reports by the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) and the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) for legal action.
This approval was granted during a recent meeting of the Standing Orders Committee of Parliament chaired by Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne.
The committee’s report on the amendment is scheduled to be presented to Parliament by the Speaker on Wednesday (22). Following that, it will be included in the Order Paper for consideration and formal approval by the House.
