Pakistani Students In Sri Lanka On Student Exchange Programme

A- 13 member student delegation along with their teachers from Centre for Advance Studies (C.A.S) Karachi is visiting Sri Lanka under a Student Exchange Programme with Ladies College Colombo and St. Thomas College, Mount Lavinia. 

The Student Exchange Programme between the partnering institutes is continuing for several years and the current visit was preceded by the visit of the student’s delegation from Ladies College Colombo to Pakistan.

Under the Programme, the students stay with their host families in respective countries to familiarize themselves with the culture and way of life of the host country.

The students along with their Sri Lankan hosts visited Pakistan High Commission on 16th February 2015, for a briefing.

While, briefing the delegation about Pakistan Sri Lanka relation, the High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka Major Gen (R) Qasim Qureshi highlighted that the two countries continue to enjoy excellent relations and there is a strong will on both sides to further develop and promote these relations. 

High Commissioner Qureshi emphasised that such visits and people to people contacts are an excellent way to promote understanding and friendship between the two nations. He expressed the hope that the visit would add value to the already strengthened bonds of friendship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

He added that more frequent people-to-people contacts through enhanced student and faculty exchanges between learning institutions of the two countries would further promote this relationship. He assured that the High Commission would continue to patronize and support such initiatives.

The delegation would also visit Galle, Kandy, Anuradhapura and Sigirya during their stay in Sri Lanka. The return visit by the students of Ladies College and St. Thomas College to Pakistan would take place in October 2015.
