Acid attack survivors, who on Thursday were roughed up by the police for protesting in front of Parliament, staged a “get well soon” protest in front of the Police Headquarters at ITO here on Friday.
The protesters gave roses to the policemen and held placards reading “Get well soon”.
Raising slogans against the police crackdown, the protesters demanded suspension of the Station House Officer of Parliament Street police station.
“The police should understand that we are protesters and not criminals. The way they behaved with us on Thursday is not justified. They cannot do this to people who are protesting silently, ” said Alok from Stop Acid Attacks.
Activists belonging to Stop Acid Attacks have been sitting on a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar for the past one week. The group is demanding better laws in cases of acid attacks and better rehabilitation for the victims.
