Mumbai terror attacks accused Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi will have to spend more days in Jail as the Islamabad High Court on Monday extended his custody by a month.
The division bench of the HC gave the order after hearing the petition moved by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) pleading the court to cancel the bail granted to Lakhvi by Islamabad's Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on December 18.
The FIA had filed the appeal before the IHC seeking to cancel the grant of post arrest bail to Lakhvi, an alleged mastermind of the Mumbai terror attacks of November 26, 2008.
Lakhvi was arrested in February 2009 and indicted along with six others Nov 25, 2009, for planning and helping to carry out the Mumbai terror attack. The six other men facing trial for their alleged involvement are Hammad Amin Sadiq, Shahid Jamil Riaz, Younas Anjum, Jamil Ahmed, Mazhar Iqbal and Abdul Majid.
At the time of the attacks, Lakhvi was believed to be the operational head of the banned Laskhar-e-Toiba (LeT) that has been accused by India of being the perpetrator.
Lakhvi, along with Zarar Shah, was allegedly the key planner of the attack that left 166 people dead and over 300 injured in Mumbai.
