Google is celebrating India's 66th Republic Day with a doodle on its homepage. The doodle shows a vibrant tableau involving the India Gate and the Rashtrapati Bhawan, the two important landmarks of the city that feature prominently in the parade.
In the last three years, Google has celebrated the day with a doodle on its homepage. In 2014, it featured the BSF motorcycle riders in the Indian tri-colour.
In 2013, India's National animal, the Tiger was featured on the homepage. It was also embellished with multiple lotus flowers, which is our national flower. In 2012, the doodle showcased the National Bravery Award winning children riding elephants. The Google logo appeared as a Rangoli.
Google had also celebrated the Republic Day in 2010. Back then, the doodle depicted the Republic Day proceedings with tri-coloured smoke trails left by fighter aircrafts.
Apart from India's Republic Day, Australia also celebrates Australia Day on the 26th.
