Khushboo Woos South Indian Voters In Delhi

February 03, 2015

Kollywood actor Khushboo joined the chief of the Congress’ Tamil Nadu unit, EVKS Elangovan, in a bid to woo the South Indian diaspora settled in West Delhi’s Rajinder Nagar on Monday.

Flanked by the party’s candidate, Brahm Yadav, party’s campaign chief Ajay Maken, and Mr. Elangovan, Ms. Khushboo took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘expensive attire’ and claimed that the people of Delhi had punished the Congress ‘enough’.

“I would like to ask Mr. Modi where is the black money from which he had promised Rs. 15 lakh each to all the bank accounts in the country. While not even a single penny from this has reached your pockets, he is wearing a suit worth Rs. 10 lakh; clearly the achche din have arrived, but only for him,” she declared to a gathering at Indepuri JJ Colony.

The venue is located at the crossroads of a significant population of Tamilians and Kannadigas estimated to be over 6,000.

The decision to fly her to the Capital is understood to have been taken by the Congress high command a month after she met party president Sonia Gandhi at her residence here.

“There were charges of corruption against the party, yes; but the people of Delhi punished it for these by voting it out of power. But what can also not be disputed is the fact that it was the Congress that brought unheard of development to Delhi during its tenure and the city needs to vote it back so that this indirect, exploitative rule of the Modi government here can come to an end,” she said.
