Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the funeral of Singapore’s first Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew on Sunday.
A statement by Indian Ministry of External Affairs said the PM would officiate at the state funeral “on behalf of the people and Government of India.”
Lee died on Monday at the age of 91, after being hospitalised with pneumonia.
Lee was admired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who recently called him “a far-sighted statesman and a lion among leaders” adding that “Mr. Lee’s life teaches valuable lessons to everyone.”
