Several firefighters have died in a massive explosion at a fuel depot outside the Ukrainian capital, Kiev.

The country's interior minister Arsen Avakov says the blast has left six others in hospitals with burns.

"An explosion at a fuel depot near Vasylkiv," he said on Twitter. "Gigantic. Firemen have died."
