Cabinet approval has been granted to allocate facilities for the establishment of new High Courts aimed at strengthening Sri Lanka’s judicial system under the National Anti-Corruption Action Plan (2025–2029).
The plan, implemented under the Ministry of Justice and National Integration, has identified the urgent need to establish several new High Courts to expedite anti-corruption efforts and improve judicial efficiency.
Accordingly, four new High Courts are to be set up using existing government buildings currently under the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government.
The following locations have been approved for handover to the Ministry of Justice and National Integration:
- No. B 88, Gregory’s Road, Colombo 07
- No. C 76, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 07
- No. B 108, Wijerama Road, Colombo 07
- No. B 12, Stanmore Crescent, Colombo 07
The Minister of Public Administration informed the Cabinet that steps will be taken to transfer these premises to the Ministry of Justice, after which the proposal received Cabinet approval.
According to government sources, the residence located at Wijerama Road — one of the buildings proposed for conversion into a High Court — was previously occupied by former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella. Other houses had been occupied by Dilum Amunugama, the tate Sanath Nishantha and the late R. Sampanthan.
