Charitha Ratwatte, a former Secretary to the Ministry of Finance and senior advisor to a former Prime Minister, has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) this morning (4)
It is reported that Ratwatte’s arrest related to an ongoing investigation into the procurement of 50 temporary warehouses in 2015, allegedly imported through the Sri Lanka State Trading Corporation at a cost exceeding Rs. 90 million.
The transaction was allegedly executed outside standard procurement procedures and without any demonstrable necessity at the time.
