Two suspects, including the principal of a school in Eppawala, were arrested by the Anuradhapura Police Crimes Division following a raid conducted at a hotel in the Eppawala–Andagala area. The suspects were found in possession of 1.2 kilograms of heroin hidden at the premises.
Police said the arrested principal’s wife is a National People’s Power (NPP) member of the Peliyagoda Urban Council.
The suspects, aged 54 and 22, are residents of the same area. Investigations have revealed that they had been involved in drug trafficking for a considerable period.
Further investigations are being conducted by the Anuradhapura Police.
