Keheliya and Family Indicted in Two More Cases

Former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, his son Ramith Rambukwella, his daughter Amali Nayanika Rambukwella, and a domestic aide, Nipuni Krishnajina, were today indicted in two cases filed by the Bribery Commission before the Colombo High Court.

The indictments were presented before High Court Judge Mohammed Mihal.

The four suspects were charged in connection with two separate cases filed against them. Following the indictments, the judge ordered that each accused be released on a cash bail of Rs. 50,000 and two surety bails of Rs. 1 million each. The court further imposed a travel ban on all accused.

The two cases were fixed for pre-trial conferences on 12 and 14 January.

Meanwhile, indictments were also served in another case against former minister Keheliya Rambukwella and his son Ramith Rambukwella. They too were released on Rs. 50,000 cash bail and two surety bails of Rs. 1 million each.

The judge imposed travel bans on the accused and ordered that their fingerprints be obtained. This case was fixed for a pre-trial conference on 20 January.

The cases relate to the alleged unlawful acquisition of assets and property during the period in which the former minister held office.
