The Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (19 December) issued a warrant for the arrest of the General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS), Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera, after he failed to appear in court today (19).

Gnanasara Ther, named as a defendant in a case involving allegations of insulting Islam, was expected to be present for the scheduled verdict. However, his attorney informed the court that he was unable to attend due to illness.

Considering the absence, Colombo Additional Magistrate Pasan Amarasena postponed the verdict to 9 January 2025 and ordered the arrest and production of Gnanasara Thera before the court.
