Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP D.V. Chanaka has described the rally held on 21 November as a resounding success.
Speaking on the Derana 360 program, the MP said the event brought together various small protests against government corruption and the failure to fulfil promises made to the public.
“In the past, rallies were often disrupted by the National People’s Power, which would block attendees. This time, however, no such disruptions occurred, as it would have been disadvantageous for the government,” he added.
MP Chanaka also suggested that some of the individuals who spoke to the media after attending the rally may have been organized and directed by the government itself. He noted that reports regarding certain such individuals had already been circulated.
The SLPP MP further stated that attendance at this rally exceeded that of the Mahinda Sulanga rally held in 2015.
