A multi-day fishing vessel carrying over 100 Myanmar nationals has arrived at Mullivaikkal beach in Mullaitivu, according to the Sri Lanka Navy and Police.

It is reported that the group was attempting to travel illegally to another country as refugees when the vessel ran out of sufficient food and water, forcing it to dock at Mullivaikkal.

The Navy has stepped in to provide essential food and water to those on board. Among the passengers, the police confirmed the presence of nearly 25 children.
