The Nugegoda Divisional Crimes Investigation Unit has taken into police custody a pistol found concealed in a travel bag carried by Udditha Lokubandara, a former private secretary to ex-President Mahinda Rajapaksa, during an Opposition protest held in Nugegoda on 21 November.

Police questioned Lokubandara on 25 November over allegations that he had concealed a firearm while on stage at a location where a large crowd had gathered. A statement was also recorded from him.
