Electricity supply has been restored in Kandy after many hours of disruption caused by severe flooding, Deputy Minister Prasanna Gunasena said.

He noted that with power now back in most areas, telecommunication services are also expected to resume shortly.

Thousands had lost contact with their families in Kandy after telecommunications networks went down due to nearly 48 hours of continuous power outages across the district.
