Domestic gold prices surged sharply today (23) in line with a rise in global gold prices.

With the international gold price climbing to USD 4,485, gold prices in the local market have increased by around Rs. 7,000, market sources said.

Accordingly, the price of a 24-carat gold sovereign rose to Rs. 352,000 this morning, compared to Rs. 344,000 yesterday.

Meanwhile, the price of a 22-carat gold sovereign has increased to Rs. 325,600.
