Nearly 68% of Badulla District Prone to Landslide Risk: NBRO

Nearly 68% of Badulla District Prone to Landslide Risk: NBRO

The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) says that nearly 68% of the total land area in the Badulla District falls within varying levels of landslide risk.

Badulla District Geologist Harshani Perera said 368 major landslides were reported across the district during the recent spell of adverse weather.

She added that around 650 housing units have been identified as being located in high-risk areas as a result of these landslides.
