Opposition members of parliament have begun signing a no-confidence motion against Education Minister Harini Amarasuriya. A discussion regarding the motion commenced this morning at the opposition leader’s office in Parliament under the leadership of Sajith Premadasa.

According to members of the opposition, the motion is being brought forward due to several significant shortcomings in the current government’s education reforms.

These concerns include the inclusion of content deemed unsuitable for children and numerous errors found within subject matter. The opposition further alleged that the government has failed to address these issues in a proper and systematic manner, leading to the formal challenge against the minister’s conduct.
