In today’s rapidly evolving world, the urgency of adopting sustainable energy solutions cannot be overstated. As the global conversation around climate change and renewable energy intensifies, Regen Renewables (Pvt) Ltd is stepping up to empower the next generation of innovators by sponsoring the VoltCast Webinar Series in collaboration with the University of Ruhuna. This initiative, part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, aims to nurture talent, raise awareness, and advance sustainability.

The series was designed to educate and inspire young minds to take leadership in promoting sustainable practices. By offering a competitive and engaging platform, the event successfully brought together a diverse youth audience, sparking meaningful discussions on how technology and innovation can drive the achievement of sustainability goals.

The VoltCast Webinar Series concluded with the highly anticipated Final Ideathalon, which showcased the top 20 teams from universities across Sri Lanka. Institutions such as the University of Ruhuna and General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University participated, with students presenting groundbreaking projects that energized the competition and contributed to the movement towards a sustainable future.

Champika Periyapperuma, Director and CTO of Regen Renewables, delivered the keynote address at the event. He emphasized the critical importance of sustainability, reminding students that the future of the planet depends on the actions taken today. Highlighting the role of the next generation, he stated, “It’s not just about protecting the environment; it’s about ensuring a better future for everyone. Let’s be the change that drives innovation, preserves our natural resources, and secures a more sustainable tomorrow.” He also encouraged young engineers to consider careers in the renewable energy sector, particularly the Solar PV industry, where their passion and skills could drive meaningful change and offer promising opportunities.

By supporting this student-led initiative, Regen Renewables is investing in the future of energy and fostering a generation of young innovators who will drive the transition towards a sustainable and greener world.

Speaking on the initiative, Dr Lakmal Fernando, Managing Director and CEO of Regen Renewables, remarked, “We firmly believe that by nurturing the talents and aspirations of young leaders, we can cultivate a community of sustainability champions motivated to lead initiatives that address environmental challenges and promote renewable energy solutions. Together, we aspire to create a ripple effect that encourages others to join the movement towards a greener, more sustainable planet.”

Through initiatives like this, Regen Renewables is paving the way for a greener future, inspiring collective action, and driving meaningful change within communities and beyond.
