The Lanka Sugar Company (Pvt) Ltd has dismissed as false and misleading information circulating on social media regarding the operations of its Nugegoda retail outlet, issuing an official clarification.

In a statement, the company said the outlet was closed temporarily on Saturday, 31 January, solely because the sales assistant on duty had fallen ill unexpectedly. It further noted that the outlet remained closed on Sunday (1) as it was a Poya Day, in line with normal practice.

The company stressed that all claims suggesting alternative reasons for the closure are baseless, untrue, and misleading to the public.

According to the statement, the Nugegoda retail outlet is now fully operational and is providing services to customers as usual. The outlet is open from 9.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, and from 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. on Sundays.

Lanka Sugar Company also urged the public to rely only on official communications issued by the company and not to be misled by false information circulating on social media platforms.
