A man has been arrested by the Madampitiya Police Station for allegedly subjecting his five-year-old daughter to abuse and recording the incident, which was then sent to his wife who is currently overseas.

The suspect, a resident of a high-rise apartment complex in Colombo 15, was taken into custody on 8 February 2026. Police said the arrest followed investigations into the circulation of the video footage.

During the operation, a woman residing in the same apartment complex was also arrested for allegedly obstructing police officers and using criminal force while they were carrying out the arrest, police added.

Further investigations are ongoing.
