RW’s UK Trip: Maithree Wickramasinghe skips CID appearance

Former First Lady Maithree Wickramasinghe has declined to appear before the Financial Criminal Investigation Department today (20), reportedy due to health reasons. She had been summoned by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division to provide a statement regarding an ongoing inquiry into her husband, former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The investigation focuses on the former president’s 2023 visit to the United Kingdom. While no formal explanation was provided to the public, reports suggest she is unable to attend due to health concerns. The CID had previously briefed the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court on 18 February regarding the summons.
