Former Head of the State Intelligence Service (SIS), Suresh Sallay, was arrested this morning (25) under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA), police confirmed.

Addressing a special media briefing in Colombo, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Legal) Jaliya Senaratne said that as Sallay had been arrested under the provisions of the PTA, he could be detained for up to 72 hours for questioning.

Sallay, a retired Major General and former SIS chief, was taken into custody in Peliyagoda by a special team of the Criminal Investigation Department.

Police stated that the arrest was made in connection with the ongoing investigation into the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings.
