An Iranian vessel has met with an accident approximately 40 miles off the Galle Harbour, according to reports.

Sri Lanka Navy vessels are currently heading to the location to carry out a rescue operation for those on board.

Deputy Minister of Defence Aruna Jayasekara said that necessary measures have already been initiated in response to the incident.
