The Government is currently in discussions with the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the possibility of handing over the administration of Sri Lanka Cricket to an interim committee or an authorised official as soon as possible, Sports Minister Sunil Gamage said.

Speaking at a special media briefing held this morning, he said that the President has also been directly involved in the discussions with the ICC.

The minister further stated that the Government will inevitably intervene to uplift cricket in the country, stressing that the responsibility cannot be delegated to others as it is a duty of the Government.
