President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated that the crew of the Iranian vessel Bushehr, currently near Sri Lanka’s territorial waters, will be disembarked at the Colombo Port, while the vessel itself will be directed to the Trincomalee Port.

Addressing the current situation in Parliament, the President also dismissed circulating rumours that around 300 children were on board the vessel, clarifying that the claim was false.

He further reiterated that Sri Lanka will maintain a neutral policy amid the ongoing international conflict and will act in accordance with its national interests and humanitarian responsibilities.

Dissanayake also stressed that the commitment of all parties is necessary to achieve lasting global peace.
