Nissan, Honda, and Mitsubishi Motors sign MoU on cooperation considerations

Mitsubishi Motors exploring participation or involvement in business combination consideration.

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (“Nissan”), Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (“Honda”), and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (“Mitsubishi Motors”) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore the possibility. Establishment of a joint venture company as set forth in a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Nissan and Honda to share the participation, participation and cooperation of Mitsubishi Motors in connection with the business combination.

Nissan, Honda, and Mitsubishi Motors have reached a preliminary agreement to continue discussions based on the framework established in the Memorandum of Understanding signed by Nissan and Honda on August 1 regarding the initiation of a strategic partnership focused on intelligence and electrification. Mitsubishi Motors has participated in this framework and the three companies are in talks.

The three companies have agreed to explore the possibility of collaboration following the agreement between Nissan and Honda to begin considering a business combination through the formation of a joint ownership company amid dramatic changes in the environment surrounding the companies and the auto industry. Mitsubishi Motors expects to reach its conclusion by the end of January 2025 on whether to participate in or join the business merger between Nissan and Honda.
