Sri Lankan workers currently outside Israel on leave or for other reasons will have their re-entry visas automatically extended until 30 April 2026, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Israel Nimal Bandara announced.
According to the Ambassador, visas that expired or are due to expire between 28 February and 21 April 2026 will automatically remain valid until 30 April.
He noted that workers are not required to submit separate applications for the extension, as the updated information has already been entered into the system of the Israel Population and Immigration Authority.
Accordingly, affected workers will be able to re-enter Israel through border crossings without any obstruction during the relevant period.
Ambassador Bandara also warned that Israeli security authorities have indicated a continued risk of attacks on Israel by Hezbollah and Iran.
He said that economic and military centres, particularly in northern Israel, are believed to be potential targets of such attacks.
In light of the security situation, the Sri Lankan Embassy has advised Sri Lankans residing in those areas to follow several safety precautions.
They have been instructed to immediately move to the nearest safe location whenever air raid sirens are heard. If a designated shelter is not available, they should take cover in locations with strong walls and avoid staying near glass doors and windows.
The Embassy also urged Sri Lankans to remain alert to safety advisories issued periodically by Israeli security authorities.
