A chaotic session unfolded in Parliament, characterised by heated exchanges between Government ministers and Opposition members, after SJB MP Ajith P. Perera alleged that Justice Minister Harshana Nanayakkara showed him the ‘middle finger’ during the Oral Questions round.

The incident occurred when Nanayakkara requested two weeks to provide answers to Perera’s questions. The Opposition alleged that the gesture was made when Perera protested.

While Perera stated that he would not mimic the gesture, MP Dayasiri Jayasekara, who also protested, said he could do so if permitted by the Speaker. However, his Point of Order was rejected by the Speaker.
