The daughter and son-in-law of a University of Jaffna lecturer have been arrested in connection with her murder, Police said.

According to Police, the victim’s son lodged a complaint on 19 March reporting his mother missing and expressing suspicion regarding his sister and her husband.

Acting on this information, officers apprehended the couple in Trincomalee and launched an investigation.

During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to killing the woman at her residence and disposing of the body in a thicket in Thanamkilappu, Chavakachcheri.

The body has since been recovered, and the magistrate conducted inquiries this afternoon.

The victim was identified as a 54-year-old lecturer in Ayurvedic Medicine at the University of Jaffna.
